WORDSWORTH

I do not write poetry myself but have studied it for many years, both as an academic and as a creative writer
Last year (2017) Andy Wild and I published a book of short poems by William Wordsworth, illustrated by eighteen contemporary Lakeland artists
We have now reprinted it, with a new cover and an extra poem. It will be available in Waterstones and other reputable outlets soon
Below is my illustration for the poem that begins 'A slumber did my spirit seal' - one of eighteen of Wordsworth's best-loved poems include in this book
Each contributing artist was free to chose one of the eighteen poems and use any medium they preferred
My second illustration used gouache on canvas. The original picture is wider but I trimmed it to fit the book's narrow format
MIKE HEALEY
My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began.
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The child is father of the man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety
